Today, we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Wade.
Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My inspiration came from wanting to spread my wings from my family home in 2011-2012 after my mother passed. This journey took me to Orlando, Florida, to participate in the Disney college program.
Years later, the pandemic happened, and it opened the opportunity for me to find my creative outlet through TikTok and find a community through Disney. Eventually, I found a way to share my love of Disney, theme parks, and travel lifestyle through it.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Safe to say, navigating an online space is never easy. The community I found myself in still faces issues of racism and sexism, which is still difficult to manage. But I persevere daily and don’t waver in using my voice to speak up on issues that are important to me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I am a theme park and travel lifestyle content creator! You can find me sharing my adventures on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter through the lens of a young black woman. I am currently in school to earn my bachelor’s in business administration with a concentration on digital marketing. I would say I’m known for my authenticity and love for theme parks.
I’ve been told often that people appreciate that I tell it like it is, especially when it comes to issues within my fandom’s community. I’m usually recognized for my writing work with themeparkhipster.com or TikTok videos. There are many things I’ve been proud of as of late, including being featured in commercials for Hersheypark and Universal Orlando, being amongst the few black creators within my niche to attend the 50th Knott’s Scary Farm event, and being featured in Rolling Stone for advocating the reasonings behind why the upcoming Princess and the frog attraction.
Tiana’s bayou adventure plays such an important part in inclusivity within the Disney fandom and for the black community in general. I feel what sets me apart is my ability to use my voice. At times, I’ve been slandered, threatened, and more, but I will never back down from allowing my voice to be heard on important topics. I believe my authenticity, creativity, and passion set me apart.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think what’s been a big part of my success is my support system. I genuinely am grateful for every opportunity that comes my way, and I know that wouldn’t be possible without my family, my loved ones, and my followers.
They tell me when I’m right and when I’m wrong. This allows me to continue to grow as an individual and emotionally listen to others. Their support allows me the platform I have today.
